Hochschulsportzentrum, Dresden

1. Hauptentwurf, Sommersemester 2020

The design of the university sports center on Teplitzer Straße creates a central point for the large range of sports offered by Dresden's universities.

As a representative building with a great public impact, it underlines the high significance of the health management of Dresden's universities.

The building consists of a hall wing with a foyer and a five-story tower. The hall wing contains two stacked triple gymnasiums.

The wooden lathing of the tower and the solar shading of the halls are oriented in color to the design of the surrounding institute buildings and the dormitories in the nearby Wundtstraße.

The sustainable material wood is in the foreground for the construction of the building. The hall supporting structure as well as the tower supporting structure are based on an axial dimension of 1.5 meters and are constructed of wood; reinforced concrete is proposed for the escape staircases only.

The lower of the two triple sports halls is equipped as a full-fledged competition gymnasium with a grandstand for events.

The roof of the hall is accessible through the tower. It is intensively greened and can also be used for sports. A solar thermal system helps to supply the building with hot water.
